Meet Chef Saul Montiel, a vibrant Mexican All-Star Chef and television personality who’s been whipping up magic in the kitchen for 25 years! Hailing from a charming small town in Hidalgo, Mexico, Saul grew up enveloped in the rich aromas and vibrant flavors of traditional Mexican cuisine. His passion for food ignited early, setting him on a path to culinary greatness.
Saul’s journey took him to the bustling streets of New York City, where he honed his skills alongside culinary titans like Sara Jenkins, Jody Williams, Josh Capon, Anne Burrell, and Amanda Freitag. Each experience enriched his culinary palette and fueled his creativity.
In 2018, Saul became the Executive Chef at Cantina Rooftop, where he boldly blended his authentic Mexican roots with Mediterranean and Italian influences, crafting a menu that’s as exciting as it is delicious. Today, Cantina Rooftop stands as a must-visit destination for food lovers from around the globe, all eager to experience his innovative creations.
Recently, Chef Saul took another exciting leap by opening La Unica Tacos y Tequila in Elizabeth, NJ, bringing a slice of his beloved Mexico to the community. Here, guests can indulge in mouthwatering tacos inspired by the vibrant flavors of Mexico City, sip on incredible margaritas made with seasonal and local New Jersey fruits, and enjoy fabulous micheladas reminiscent of the best cantinas in Mexico.
In September 2024, Chef Saul became the Corporate Chef of Zamora Live Group, taking the reins at Cantina Rooftop, HK Hall, Palma Verde, Circo Times Square, and Broadway Pizza & Bites. With this new role, he’s poised to elevate dining experiences across multiple venues, showcasing his culinary vision and passion for authentic flavors.
